  • Introduction to Paediatric First Aid and Legal Requirements

  • Choking - Recognition and Management
  • Wounds, Bleeding, and Shock
  • Fractures, Sprains, and Head Injuries
  • Burns and Scalds
  • Seizures and Febrile Convulsions
  • Allergies and Anaphylaxis 
  • Asthma, Diabetes, and Common Illnesses
  • Unconsciousness and Recovery Position
  • Parental Communication and Incident Reporting


🧠 Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Respond effectively to common first aid incidents involving infants and children
  • Perform CPR and use an AED for children and infants
  • Manage choking, bleeding, burns, and fractures
  • Recognise and respond to serious medical conditions such as febrile seizures, asthma, and allergic reactions
  • Place an infant or child in the recovery position
  • Understand the importance of reporting and parental communication
  • Ensure a safe environment in line with Tusla and HSA guidelines

  • 1 Day (6 hours approx.)
  • Delivered in-person (practical skills assessed)


🎓 Certification

  • Participants will receive a Safeguard Training Services Certificate of Completion
  • Certificate is valid for 2 years
  • Course content meets Tusla's expectations for staff working in Early Years services and supports general Duty of Care under Irish legislation
