Fire Warden

This Fire Warden Training Course is designed for individuals appointed as Fire Wardens or Fire Marshals in the workplace. It provides participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to carry out their duties effectively, including fire prevention, emergency response, and evacuation procedures. The course is in line with the Fire Services Acts 1981 & 2003 and supports compliance with Regulation 11 of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005, which requires employers to have effective emergency plans and trained personnel.

  • Introduction to Fire Safety
  • Fire Safety Legislation: Fire Services Acts & SHWW Act 2005
  • The Fire Triangle: Understanding how fire starts and spreads
  • Common Fire Hazards and Fire Prevention
  • Duties and Role of the Fire Warden
  • Emergency Procedures and Evacuation
  • Fire Extinguisher Types and Safe Use (demonstration and/or hands-on, where applicable)
  • Conducting Fire Drills and Inspections


🧠 Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand fire safety legislation in Ireland and employer obligations
  • Identify common fire hazards and how to prevent them
  • Understand the chemistry of fire and how it spreads
  • Use fire extinguishers and other fire safety equipment correctly (in-person option)
  • Carry out fire safety checks and inspections
  • Respond effectively in the event of a fire or emergency
  • Understand the role and responsibilities of a Fire Warden, including leading an evacuation

  • Half Day (3–4 hours)
  • Available as: In-person or Online via Zoom (live instructor-led)

🎓 Certification

  • Participants will receive a Safeguard Training Service Certificate of Completion
  • Certificate is valid for 2 years
  • Fulfils training requirements under Irish fire safety legislation
